Odor Removal
Detect and Eliminate Odors From Various Sources
Various odors are common with death, regardless of the circumstances.
These odors may be caused by fecal matter, urine, blood and other bodily fluids
associated with the process of
decomposition. Odor removal can be a
daunting task for even the most experienced in the field.
Other common odors may result from dead rodents, animal
urine or fecal matter, smoke, mildew and many other sources. These
odors are equally troublesome and linger
in the same fashion as odor from a human body.
Although odors may
seem airborne, they actually permeate nearly every item and furnishing in the
house. These same odors become trapped in carpets, under flooring, within walls and
attics. Without proper training and equipment, complete odor removal
cannot be achieved. For example, odor removal from the scene of a
decomposition often requires our technicians to first remove all items under or
about the decomposed body. This will often include floor coverings and sub
floor. Depending on the extent of the decomposition, lower portions of
drywall may also have to be removed. Once all affected items have been
removed, technicians will coat all remaining areas with a stain and odor blocker
(barrier) and use an odor neutralizer when applicable. In extreme odor
removal cases, an ozone generator may be required. This will be left in
the contaminated area for up to 24 hours. A house or place of business may
not be occupied while an ozone generator is in use.
